Students who have a sense of career direction—and who understand how education can help move them toward their goals—are less likely to lose interest in school and drop out.
The Kansas Career Pipeline is a free, web-based tool that helps students identify their skills, interests, and work values by taking the Kuder® Assessments online. It helps counselors advise students about educational pathways and career options in which they are likely to find satisfaction and success. With the Pipeline, your students will be able to do a better job of planning their classes, exploring careers, researching postsecondary options, and thinking constructively about their futures, as early as fifth grade.
The Pipeline’s Administrative Database Management System provides powerful tools to help you see how many students have completed career planning and aggregate the data by such categories as ethnicity, grade level, and gender. The database makes it easier to administer reporting requirements for Perkins funding and to meet the Department of Education’s career development goals.
This insight into your students’ career expectations will allow you to work with the business community to help prepare students for the actual jobs they will find available after graduation.
The Pipeline is currently being implemented in school districts across Kansas. As of November, 2007, more than 300 secondary schools have subscribed. If your school is not yet involved, please contact Kuder at support@kuder.com or 1-877-999-6227 to get started.
